Grow and Give Community Garden

100_1709 100_1739 100_1712The Grow and Give Community Garden was started in response to the need for fresh food and food access in the downtown area.  Neighbors have loaned the use of their property to CUM and volunteers plant, weed, water and harvest the vegetables.  During Camp Timothy, each group of children have a time to come to the garden to experience planting and harvesting as well as trying fresh vegetables right from the ground!  This year, CUM was awarded a grant from the Lynchburg Food Council which enabled us to purchase a shed to keep tools and supplies in as well as a compost bin.  Food from the garden is shared with nearby neighbors as well as the children who attend Camp Timothy and Timothy Academy.
