Do you remember the summer days of your youth? I do—they were carefree and filled with fun and laughter. Unfortunately, children growing up today often do not get to have those kinds of summer days. Some children are growing up in single parent homes or being raised by extended family members. Many of them share worries about food insecurity and whether the electricity will be on tomorrow, or even where they will be living tomorrow. Things that children should not have to worry about.

At Churches for Urban Ministry’s Camp Timothy, we provide for the most at-risk and disadvantaged children, a safe and fun place to spend their summer days. What other camps charge in excess of $300 a week for, making it inaccessible for low-income families, we provide to them for $125 for 6 weeks (and there are scholarships available if that amount is not affordable to them.)

For those 6 weeks, the children participate in activities such as swimming, missions, field trips, arts and crafts, Bible games and stories, and recreation. The older children even have several days and nights of camping at Camp Hat Creek. Each child receives breakfast and a hot lunch daily. Camp Timothy provides a safe, caring, and nurturing environment for about 90-100 children each summer.

This is accomplished ONLY by your donation, and others who believe in what is being done here.   We do not receive any governmental or United Way Funding. Every year, we operate on a shoestring budget, looking at what might have to be discontinued due to lack of money. Can you help us to continue to enrich the lives of the children who depend on us? For some of them, this might be the only place they can be sure will be here for them tomorrow.

If you have any questions or concerns, or would like a to hear more, please call me. I will be happy to meet with you.

Blessings,
